The Mist Trail

Alright, so Monday I hiked the Mist Trail and it was absolutely gorgeous pretty much the entire way up. The reason it's called the Mist Trail is because you get drenched by mist because you're so close to the waterfalls. The first fall on the hike is Vernal Falls and the second is Nevada Falls. We actually had to walk under a smaller fall to get to Nevada Falls. Needless to say we got pretty wet. But it was so worth it. It was about a 7 mile round trip with 1000 ft elevation gain or maybe a little more.

Something that I didn't quite expect here is the party scene. Pretty much almost every night at the local hangout building, there are several people, with several being about twenty, getting drunk. And while I don't find it wrong to drink, I do with drunkenness on a daily basis. But I've come to the understanding that my disapproval of their actions is not going to change their behavior, more importantly their heart, but my friendship with them may serve as the catalyst that is needed for a change in heart as long as God is acting in the midst.

Today was a little weird. It rained, snowed a little, and shined all in one day, all in one hour pretty much. Even though the weather's pretty crappy right now, it's still pretty amazing here.
Here's some more pictures.

Yosemite Falls

So Thursday I went hackin(That's for ole Natalie Mulhall who gets the first shout out). I hiked up to the top of Yosemite Falls and it was gorgeous. But the hike was pretty rough itself. 3.5 miles horizontally to the falls which is not bad, but about 3,000 feet in elevation, which was pretty rough, but well worth it. We even had to trudge through some snow to get to Yosemite Point. It had some pretty incredible views. It's pretty interesting when you can say "Oh, my God" without using God's name wrongly.

Today I had my first day of work. Yeah, I'm a housekeeper but it's really not all that bad. You just kinda get in a routine and you're pretty much set. I also met up with the pastor today who will be working with us for the summer. Our services should start up on the Memorial Day weekend. So that should be pretty interesting.

It snowed today. What the crap?

So It Has Started

And I am finally in Yosemite and officially hired in. Sunday I flew in to Sacramento via Dallas (with a 3 hour layover.) Spent the night in Sacramento. The next day, hitched the early train to Merced (with a two hour delay) and then took a bus into the park. Overall not entirely enjoyable, but it got me to Yosemite so I'm pretty happy with it. With all the officialness of everything, the paperwork and the hiring process, I haven't been able to get around the park too much, but what I have been able to see is pretty dang gorgeous. I did get to take a few pictures today. Got a roomate, met some people, did some stuff, ate some food, and realized I didn't pack sheets. Here's some photos.

PostScript: More writing, more photos, possibly some videos, and more information in general coming up soon.
